easy and environmentally-friendly tips

Since laundry plays such an important role in maintaining the quality of the garments, we wish to share our easy and environmentally-friendly tips. Some of these are mentioned on our garment’s care labels and on the specially designed extra hangtags for our essentials programs, including the GOTS-certified organic cotton and merino wool.

General tips:

  • Use green detergent, preferably biodegradable.
  • Search for a detergent that is specially designed for washing at low temperature.
  • Avoid detergent overdose. Read the instructions of the bottle.
  • Save up your laundry for full loads. But remember not to stuff the machine, since the clothes will not become clean while washing.
  • Separate lightweight and heavyweight items.
  • Wash light and dark colours separately.
  • Pre-treat stains before washing.
  • Whiten clothes by soaking them in hot water together with lemon slices for 10 minutes. Machine wash afterwards.
  • Let your wardrobe breathe by not stuffing it too much since it can result in excessive wrinkles and ironing too often.
  • If a garment bleeds onto another when washing, immediately put it back in the machine for another round.
  • Avoid tumble drying and dry cleaning.
  • Air dry on clothesline or dryer rack.
  • Leave some space between garments on the dryer rack, it will reduce drying time.
  • Don’t iron, if you don’t have to.

  • Use a green detergent specifically designed for wool.
  • Wash inside-out on wool program.
  • Flat dry on a bath towel.
  • Air out your wool sweater after each use.
  • Store knit gently folded.

  • Pre-treat armpit stains.
  •  Wash at low temperature.
  • Flat dry.
  • Store jersey gently folded.

  • Avoid dry cleaning.
  • Air out after use for a day or two.
  • Hang it up on a good quality hanger to keep the shape.
  • Hang it up in the bathroom while showering, the steam will maintain the shape and remove any wrinkles.

  • To avoid settled stains in the fabric, wash shirts in the following days after use.
  • Pre-treat any stains around the collar or armpit with a little detergent.
  • Wash at low temperature.
  • Wash inside out.
  • Flat dry or on a hanger.
  • Iron shirt while damp.
  • Never re-iron a shirt. Steaming does not equal washing.

Pants & Chinos:

  • To avoid colour fading, wash and dry inside out.
  • Before washing check pockets and unroll hems.
  • Zip the zipper to prevent from snagging other garments.
